Yes, it is your responsibility as a website owner or developer to backup your:

• production or live websites.
  - Bring your own plugin, and off-site storage for your production or live websites.
  - On our end, we perform DB backups nightly and store them for the last 14 days.

• staging websites.
  - usually not required to back up.
  - but if you need to back them up, you need to connect your own plugin, and bring your own off-site storage.
  - we do not perform DB backups for this on our end.

• websites use for development.
  - similar to staging websites, usually not required to back up.
  - but if you need to back them up, you need to connect your own plugin, and bring your own off-site storage.
